FINANCIAL
OBLIGATIONS
Dues for regular membership in the Serra
Club of Spokane are presently $120 per year. The
Club is a nonprofit charitable corporation.
MEETINGS
Regular meetings of the Serra Club of
Spokane are held at the Knights of Columbus Hall on the second
Friday of each month (noon luncheon meeting) and at Bishop White
Seminary on the fourth Saturday of each month (9:00 a.m. Mass and
breakfast meeting). Board members meet at 5:00
p.m. on the
first Tuesday of each month at Bishop White
Seminary.
PARTICIPATION
The Club strives for a family
atmosphere. The key to the "Serra Family" is consistent and
full participation by members and families in the Spiritual, Social,
and Club programs and meetings. All members are encouraged to
attend Board meetings to contribute their ideas and
suggestions. A member on good standing is expected to
participate in a minimum of 50% of all Club meetings and
activities.
SERRA IS AN
OPPORTUNITY FOR
CATHOLICS
To grow spiritually through prayers and
supportive Christian friendships. To continue
their Catholic education through the Serra
University of Christian
Principles. To Fulfill their own Christian
vocations to service, bringing Christ into the marketplace. To
affirm the religious vocation by fostering vocations to the
priesthood and religious life.
SOCIAL
PROGRAM
An important part of Serra is its social
program. There are numerous events each year which are purely
social. These consist of the Priest's Appreciation Dinner,
Brunch for Women Religious, Fall Dinner to Welcome Seminarians,
Priest and Deacon - Serran Golf Tournament, Spring Dinner Dance, and
the Summer picnic. The International al and Regional
Conventions, as well as the Spring District Workshop, are all Serra
family events.
SPIRITUAL
PROGRAMS
While the primary purpose of the Club is
spiritual in nature, there are specific events each year which are
the highlights of the spiritual program. These events
include:
1. Induction Night
- Serrans, their families, and guest on Ash Wednesday join
with the Bishop and Vocation Director in an evening of Recollection
at Immaculate Heart Retreat Center, followed by the celebration of
the Eucharist. The liturgy includes induction of new members
to the Club followed by dinner.
2. Installation of
officers and Trustees - An evening Mass (usually out doors) is held
for all Serrans and their families. The new officers, board,
and trustees are installed followed by a potluck
dinner.
3. First Friday - The
Serra members on the first Friday of each month join with the
Seminarians at Bishop White Seminary for the celebration of the
Mass, followed by coffee and donuts.
Regular
meetings feature guest speakers who present a variety of subjects on
the Church, Vocations, Social, and other topical religious
subjects. In this sense, Serra offers its members a continuing
education in their faith or, in the words of Serra International - a
University of
Christian
Principles.
